We embrace “weird”
“Why do they always have to act so weird?” the girl with the long curly hair said to her friend. She has put her hand over her mouth, pretending to be discreet, but with every intention of being heard.
The girl pretending to be the Dragon, soaring over her Dragon Kingdom, stopped in mid-flight when she heard the comment. Weird? She loved playing Dragon every day at recess. Her favorite book series was about Dragons, and she loved flying and being powerful. Her Dragon Heart broke and she felt embarrassed, sad, and angry.
Here at Curtis the Monkey we have decided to redefine the word “weird”. Around here “weird” just means that you have an imagination and you love to use it. Curtis the Monkey CELEBRATES weird.
Whether you are dressed up in a homemade costume for the midnight opening of the movie you have waited months to see, or you have spent years doodling the face of a children’s book character you will someday create, or if you are a Dragon Warrior every day at recess….you and your wild, imaginative heart will always have a place here.
